Wound Vac Supplies & Taking out the Trash

Yesterday's contribution was to bring down Husband's extra supplies from his wound vac from our Master Bedroom and put them in the Library.  We have several sterile packages that we would happily return.  Unfortunately, we're not able to because the cardboard box they came in was opened.  Once it's opened, the manufacturer will not allow returns.  Insurance paid for them in full because we had met the out of pocket maximum this year.  We hate to just throw them away.  I did find a site that takes excess supplies from hospitals and nursing homes and I'm writing to them to see if we can send them there.  They supply them to countries like Haiti, Peru, etc.  The research and the movement of the wound vac materials is all I can claim that I did yesterday.

Today, my main contribution was to take out the trash.  For the last two nights, we haven't gotten much sleep.  One night, the youngest child woke up every couple of hours with knee pains.  I can relate.  I had knee pains quite a bit as a child and they were painful and my parents didn't believe me.  However, I think a few of the times he just wanted our attention.  He also gets confused about whether it's his knee or his foot that hurts.

Last night, Igor woke us up at 3 a.m. with all the signs of croup.  We ran the shower and gave him humidity.  That helped and he went back to bed.  Husband stayed home with him today.  I went to work as I'm in the middle of my busiest season and taking a day off is not an option.  Also at home today, Hannibal also was sick, throwing up into the "barf bucket" - an old, green plastic Halloween candy bowl that I can no longer in good conscience use to hand out our candy.  Dinner was pizza when I got home.

This morning, though, with two sick kids, and slick conditions outside from the snow (we have about 1-3 inches on the ground now), Husband didn't want to take out the trash.  So I did.  I carried all the bags from the toy packaging from post-Christmas presents.  I carried out the diaper/wound dressing trash can.  I took out the kitchen trash.  I carried two bins of recycling to the curb - including several pieces from the pile of cardboard boxes we broke down in the Garage to make room for my car.  Some progress - getting it to the curb.  But I'm exhausted and that's all I'm doing.  Right now, I'm waiting for the kids and Husband to finish watching Iron Man so I can put them to bed and fall spent into my own bed, hoping to not wake up until morning.
