Trash Day

Yesterday, before work, I took out the trash.  It was an icy day and Husband didn't want to because he was afraid of slipping on the ice.  Plus he was staying home sick.  So I took it out.  My contribution to my experiment?  I took another bundle of cardboard box recycling to the curb.

I then went to work and worked from 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., arriving home around 8:30 p.m.  The trash cans and recycling bins were still on the curb.  Someone in the house left it to walk to the mailbox to get mail, but didn't think to bring back any of the empty bins.  It had been raining all day, so now they're full of water that I had to dump out.  Nobody in the house had to work or go to school.  And the person working a 12.5 hour day had to be the one to bring in the trash cans.  OK.  That makes sense.  I was a bit livid.

Today was more manageable.  Handed off the kids to the sitter at 7:30, was at work by 8:15 and left around 5:45 p.m.  I was able to read the kids their stories and sing them their songs and tuck them in - which is nice since I'll be out with girlfriends tomorrow night and will get home long after they are in bed.

Today's contribution?  I don't know.  I'm running a load of laundry so I have pants to wear (I'm down to only 3 pair of black dress pants that fit me right now).  I'll try to hang up some more clothes in the bedroom before bed.  No promises, though.
