Of Potty Training and Creating a Kids' Space in the Office

I had an extra day off for the holiday since it fell on a  Saturday.  Igor went back to school.  Husband went back to work.  Hannibal and I had the day together - to continue potty training.  He really likes the new potty seat we bought and put in the Powder Room.  He didn't really have any accidents until nap time.  I put him down.  He immediately fouled his underwear.  Luckily, I put a lap pad on the floor when I tried to pry the underwear off him because the part of the poop that wasn't hard (he had gone 2 days without pooping) just plopped out onto the pad.  Must have been the applesauce with the PB&J at lunch.  Who's idea was that?  Anyway, we got it cleaned up and went about our day.

We were mostly tied to the house due to the lawn tractor servicemen coming between 10 and 2 to pick up the John Deere for servicing and winterizing.  During his nap, I continued my experiment by creating a small space in the office for the kids to color or do puzzles or read their Highlights Magazine while someone is working on the computer.  The Office, as I've mentioned, has become sort of a catchall for pictures we haven't hung yet, kitsch that we haven't found a home for yet, and paperwork/files that haven't found their way into the file cabinet yet.  I want a new wood locking file cabinet with 4 drawers instead of this cheap $20 (years ago) metal file cabinet whose drawer bent one day when I tried to open it.  Very little filing going on in there.

I mostly moved around the boxes to complete my objective, but it's a start, right?  Here is the before:
And here is the after:

You can still see the boxes to the right.  Those are my files from graduate school.  It's been almost 14 years and I haven't looked at them.  I think it's time to purge.  Though, should you purge them when you still haven't paid off the graduate student loans?  Ah, I do hoard paper.  I'm working on it, though.  This experiment helps. . .

So on Day 7, our accomplishment included:  getting the lawn tractor out of the garage to be winterized and creating a small space in the office for the boys.  Hannibal loves the space.  I think Iago, who watches him during the day, likes it too.
